Net pension in Greece
On a gross foreign-source pension of €24,000, single, under the general scale, €20,597 is left net, that is €1,716 a month. Adjust the amount and the regime below, including the 7% regime for foreign pensions; the household does not change the result.
The pension before any withholding, per year.
Both options are for a pension paid by a foreign mandatory scheme. The 7% regime applies, once the tax administration accepts the application, to people who receive a foreign-source pension, were not tax resident in Greece in five of the six years before moving their tax residence, and move it from a state bound to Greece by an administrative cooperation agreement in tax matters that is in force.

What this page does not say
This calculation assumes you are tax resident in Greece, that the pension is paid by a foreign mandatory main or supplementary scheme and that it is taxable in Greece. It does not decide WHERE a cross-border pension is taxable. That is settled by the tax treaty between the two states, and the answer depends on the type of pension, so two pensions paid to the same person can fall to two different states.
Our editorial notes set it out corridor by corridor, in French: a Swiss pension abroad, returning to France, Italy, Spain. For an individual situation, the characterisation belongs to a tax lawyer.
How the figure is built
A pension from a mandatory main or supplementary scheme is taxed like a salary. The Greek income tax code counts it as income from salaries and pensions: it follows the same 2026 scale, from 9% up to 10,000 EUR to 44% above 60,000 EUR, and the same tax reduction, 777 EUR without a dependent child, lowered by 20 EUR per 1,000 EUR above 12,000 EUR. This calculation does not cover benefits from a voluntary occupational pension fund or a group pension contract, Greek or foreign: those of a Greek fund are taxed separately, under their own rules.
This calculation is for a pension paid by a foreign mandatory scheme and deducts no social contribution. Those an employee pays on a salary, about 13.4%, do not fall on a pension, and any amount withheld from a foreign pension depends on the state and fund that pay it. A pension paid by a Greek fund, by contrast, bears withholdings set by law, a 6% health contribution and, above a threshold raised each year, a pensioners’ solidarity contribution: this calculation does not cover it.
The 7% regime, offered as an option, is for people who move their tax residence to Greece with a foreign-source pension. The law reserves it to those who were not tax resident in Greece in five of the six years before that move, and who move from a state bound to Greece by an administrative cooperation agreement in tax matters that is in force. It applies once the tax administration accepts the application, for fifteen tax years, to the whole of the foreign-source income, and it does not override tax treaties. It can be left along the way, but leaving is final.
