Retirement and levies

Net pension

What is left of a retirement pension once income tax and social levies are applied, for someone resident in the country where the pension is taxable.

Two questions, and only one is computed here

The first is how much is left of a pension taxed in a given country. That is a calculation, and it is the one these pages make.

The second is which state taxes a cross-border pension. That is not a calculation: the tax treaty between the two states settles it, and the rule depends on the type of pension, so two pensions paid to the same person can fall to two different states. No calculator can answer that without making a legal assertion, so this one never poses it.

Our editorial notes set it out corridor by corridor, in French: a Swiss pension abroad, returning to France, Italy and Spain.
