Tax system in Russia

Russia introduced a new 5-bracket progressive PIT from January 1, 2025, replacing the previous flat rate. Rates range from 13% (up to RUB 2.4M) to 22% (above RUB 50M). Uniquely, employees pay zero social contributions in Russia; the employer bears the full 30% burden. This makes the employee's net salary calculation straightforward: gross minus income tax. Moscow and St. Petersburg are the main economic centres.
