The model applies the employment income deduction, the 2026 basic exemption, full deduction of social insurance premiums, the 5-45% national scale, the 2.1% reconstruction surtax and the flat 10% local inhabitant tax. Declared simplifications: the inhabitant tax is computed on the same taxable base as the national tax although its own basic exemption is 430,000 JPY, and its small per-capita levy (about 5,000 JPY) is ignored, which understates the total burden by roughly 15,000-25,000 JPY; it is also levied on the previous year income in reality, while the calculator applies it to the current salary. The health insurance rate is the Tokyo rate and varies slightly by prefecture.
