🇦🇪 United Arab Emirates
The UAE levies 0% personal income tax on individuals. There are no employee social security contributions for expatriates (who make up the majority of the workforce). UAE nationals pay 5% to GPSSA (pension), matched by a 12.5% employer contribution. The 9% corporate tax introduced in 2023 does not apply to employment income. The absence of personal income tax makes the UAE one of the most tax-efficient jurisdictions globally for salaried professionals.

What the calculation reproduces, what it does not model
The United Arab Emirates levy no income tax on individuals, and this calculation withholds nothing: neither tax nor employee contribution. It describes the position of an expatriate employee. Not modelled: the compulsory unemployment insurance (ILOE), 5 AED a month up to 16,000 AED of basic salary and 10 AED above, plus VAT. Outside this scenario: the social insurance of Emirati and other GCC nationals, the corporate tax on business income, and income other than salary.
